Net Metering Starter Kits
Have you always wanted to have your
own solar power system, but thought:
I can’t afford it
I don’t know the first thing about it
I don’t know who to talk to
I don’t know how to install it
I don’t know how dependable it is
Solar Unlimited has developed a Net Metering
Starter Kit to address these issues and help open the door to
solar energy for more people. We have had a lot of interest in
solar from people who are hooked up to the Utility Company, but
the cost has been prohibitive. This new Net Metering Kit makes
solar affordable.
The Kit includes everything you need for a
complete system and can be installed by you, an electrician or by
Solar Unlimited.
We have step-by-step instructions.
We can answer any of your questions.
The Kit can be expanded upon if you want to produce more of your
own power.
What is Net Metering?
Net Metering uses the best of both worlds. You will still be
hooked up to your regular utility company, but will have solar
power to offset your consumption and will be doing your part to
cut our Nation’s dependency on foreign oil. If you produce
enough power you can actually sell power back to the Power
Company.
What the Kit includes:
All high quality, UL listed proven technologies
4 Kaneka panels per .25kw system (1.0kw has 16 panels)
2 kw Fronius IG 2000 Watt inverter (which allows room to expand to
a larger system)
Roof mounting system
UV rated wiring (no conduit needed)
Utility disconnect box, DC combiner box & breaker
What the Kit includes:
Option A:
All high quality, UL listed proven technologies
4 Kaneka panels (thin film technology) per .25kw system (1.0kw
has 16 panels)
2 kw Fronius IG 2000 Watt inverter (which allows room to expand
to a larger system)
Roof mounting system
UV rated wiring (no conduit needed)
Utility disconnect box, DC combiner box & breaker
Benefit: This option allows you to start with fewer panels,
works better in hotter temperatures and the starting cost is
lower.
Option B:
This option is the same as option A, but uses 6 Sharp 165 watt
panels per 1.0kw system, which is the smallest size available.
Benefit: If you want a 1kw system or larger you need fewer
panels.
We chose only the best equipment
The Fronius grid tied inverter is UL listed and is 2000 watts
input, which allows you to add panels to the system up to 2kw.
It also has a built-in cooling fan, which keeps the inverter
cooler and thus the efficiency high on it. There is a built in
DC ground fault input breaker and an AC output breaker. This
inverter also has an NEMA 3R indoor/outdoor rated box.
The solar panels are thin film (amorphous-Si) technology and is
better able to handle hotter temperatures. They are 92 volts DC
output, which allows us to do smaller number of panels. They are
UL listed.

How Much Power will a
Kit produce?
The answer depends on you and your family. It depends on how much
power you use and the size of kit that you purchase. If you have
large power draws such as air conditioning, Jacuzzi or have a
large home and only get a .25kw Kit you will not lower your bill
by much. That is why we have made the kit expandable so you can
produce more of your own power over time.
Example: A .50kw Kit will approximately power a
refrigerator, dishwasher and a clothes washer. If you have a 1kw
Kit it will power twice that amount.
This kit is meant to offset your power bill not
eliminate it. If you have a small home and get a 2kw kit (32
panels) then you will probably be producing more power than you
use and actually sell power back to the Power Company. Again it
depends on your family’s consumption. We recommend trying to
conserve as much power as possible (turning off lights and TV’s
when leaving rooms, etc.).
If you would like to expand upon your
Kit to
increase your power production we have add-on Kits available. The
systems can be expanded up to a 32 panel system (2kw) in
increments of 4 panels per add-on.
Add-on kits are $2,032.00 each and
include:
4 Kaneka solar (PV) panels
1 roof mount system
2 wire extensions
1 DC breaker
Note: Additional tax credits may be available
when purchasing add-on Kits if all of the available tax credits
were not used on initial order. Maximum tax credits available are
55% of Kit with a maximum credit of $2,000.00 each from State
& Federal.
Installation:
Installation is relatively simple, so the homeowner can do it
themselves; however, we recommend having a professional install
the system. If you chose to install yourself we have step-by-step
instructions or we will consult with you on how to install it for
$175.00, which includes up to 2 hrs consulting time plus travel
one way.
If you would like us to install the system the
price varies depending on roof type and size of the system
purchased.
Example: An installation of a .50 kw system can
range between $500.00-$1,500.00. This does not include the cost of
the electrician to do final hook-up (labor for one hour).
Additional tax credits may apply to installation if a portion of
the taxes available were not used on initial Kit.
An electrician must do the final hookup (required by the Utility
Company) and the Utility Company must inspect the system before it
can be turned on.
Warning:
We recommend having a professional install the Kit. If you decide
to install the system yourself, of course there is a risk of
injury. Use great care when using ladder and wear a harness when
on the roof. Also, there is a risk of electrocution when dealing
with high voltage (400 volts) and any AC household wiring. Please
read all instructions carefully and call Solar Unlimited if you
have any questions. Also, remember an electrician must do the
final hookup and the Utility Company must inspect before turning
the system on.
Solar Unlimited Energy & Homes, Inc. is not
responsible for any injury incurred while installing this Kit.
