Residential Applications for SOLARWALL®

CLICK HERE for how SOLARWALL works.

Most commercial and industrial buildings replace their air once or twice every hour to provide fresh air and to get rid of contaminated air. Now your home can utilize the same SOLARWALL® technology that has solved indoor air quality problems in numerous industrial applications.

18 panel residential SOLARWALL® heater installed on the south roof slope of home.

Home has 4-panel SOLARWALL® along ridge of roof.

The SOLARWALL® panels can easily be installed onto a south facing wall as a do-it-yourself project. The solar heated air can be ducted from the panel directly into a room, heat recovery ventilator (HRV), or into a warm air furnace. On a sunny, winter day, the panel can produce a temperature rise over 50 degrees Fahrenheit (30 degrees Celsius) over the ambient air temperature.

Our residential kits come with either 4, 6 or 8 panels. 6 panels will heat up to 1,500 sq.ft.

The first step is to determine the amount of outside air that is needed in the house or building. Carpets, press board, animals, smokers all contribute to gases and particles being released inside a house. Indoor air quality is important and the best way to solve the "sick building syndrome" is to bring in more fresh air. This is where SOLARWALL® can help. Most homes need a half an air change per hour which translates into 100 cfm for a 1,500 sq.ft. house. Half an air change is approximately equal to the air infiltration in many houses so adding solar heated fresh air will help reduce or eliminate infiltrating and drafts sometimes found in older leaky houses. In an air tight house, it is important to plan for heated fresh air to maintain good air quality.

The mid west states have the best solar performance but it is interesting to note that the SOLARWALL® is even effective in warm states such as Texas. In fact, over a one year period, the same amount of heat energy can be saved in many southern states as in the north eastern states. The south may have fewer days requiring heating but those days tend to be sunny whereas in the northeast where the heating season is much longer, many of the winter days can be overcast.

Cost of SOLARWALL®

Solar Energy is free. The SOLARWALL® System is less or the same price as a fossil fuel burning furnace and remember that the cost of operating the SOLARWALL® is a lot less than the cost of ordinary fuels. Fossil fuels are also of limited quantity. When they are gone what will be left? SOLAR HEAT. Contact us for commercial application estimates.
